It is hotting up this summer with this season’s tropical jungle trend, evoking sunny destinations and emphasizing nature.

Nothing helps to forget about the freezing greyness, and gale force winds of British weather more than this season’s trend for tropical plant motifs, exotic birds and luscious fruits. This summer embrace this Amazonian trend in your home to step into a beautiful plethora of exotic fauna, flora, landscapes, bright colours, and florals so vivid you can almost smell the flowers.

This season lush tropical vegetation reigns, explored in many techniques from photographic collages to painterly renditions and detailed illustrations. Toucans, parrots and exotic birds join the picture and peek out among the palm leaves, at times surrounded by fluttering colourful butterflies.

Designers Stella Jean, Erdem and Matthew Williamson all travelled us to tropical paradise with their Spring/Summer 2015 collections; with exotic flower motifs, vibrant colour palettes and embroided palm tree patterns. In Milan at the Stella Jean show, brightly coloured Haitian scenes were printed on flowing silk skirts and dresses. Bamboo, graphic animal print, coconuts, palm trees and Aztec patterns all adorned the pieces of this highly colourful and tropical collection.

With inspiration drawn from palm trees to pineapples here are some suggestions of a few simple ways to incorporate this trend into your living spaces. Begin by introducing more plants into your home; extra foliage goes a long way to making your living space feel like more of an urban jungle. Obviously the more tropical the plants the better!

Next the highstreet is full of options for cranking up the heat in your home, from House of Hackney’s ‘Palmeral’ print to Tesco’s ‘Tropical’ collection of stunning palm, orchid, Hawaii and bird print pieces, you truly are spoilt for choice! Here to help though are some of my picks of the highstreet: to add a tropical twist to your living room or bedroom there’s Laura Ashley’s champagne gold pineapple lamp base, a scrumptious piece indeed! You could even echo this in the room with Marks and Spencer’s pineapple seat pad on a nearby chair.

However if pineapples aren’t for you, there are Marks and Spencer’s tropical floral oven glove and matching tea towels to bring an icon of faraway tropics to your kitchen. Take this a step further with their palm tree side plates and flamingo tumblers to make a real tropical statement. Or bring a touch of the rainforest to your bedroom with Anthropolgie’s floral ‘Witherbee’ quilt, designed by Lulie Wallace; and finish off with their chirpy bird embroided ‘Plumita’ cushions.

Finally for those braver few there is Cole & Son’s ‘Palm Jungle’ wallpaper range to turn your walls into a humid jungle scene. Team one of these with dark wooden furniture, wicker baskets and natural linens for the full tropical theme.

So there you have it, from the hot, lush tropics to the hottest, brightest colours, this season take a journey to paradise with this tropical jungle trend!
