I’m so over white walls.

Putty, Taupe, Greige, Ivory and don’t even mention Magnolia….

So many homes I enter lately, bore me to tears. With their plain, neutral impersonal walls, they all echo the same lack of individuality, and smack of that Generation ‘X’ fear of commitment…

“Don’t do anything too exciting, if you sell, the next person may not like it…” “What if I’m judged on my taste and style…” “What if I change my mind…”

Well I say, take a stand! Bring on the wallpaper. Create an atmosphere. Inject some warmth into your home and a personal stamp on your surroundings.

Spring/Summer 2015 is going to be bright, and with it comes a wave of florals, oversized geometrics and jewel hues.

Fashion trends are over-spilling into interior design, and there are a plethora of striking, original and colourful prints on the market to choose from.

No longer are florals seen as something belonging in your granny’s house, nor geometrics as outdated kitsch. New designs and bold colour combinations have refreshed these patterns and made them current and exciting again.

A few of my personal favourites are:

You can find many similar prints and styles on the market for less too.

John Lewis and Occa Home, both carry extensive selections, starting from about £15.00 per roll, so don’t go bold or go home, go home, and go bold!

Tip: If you want to try this look and aren’t too sure, aim for a smaller space. For example: a Guest Bathroom, or the back of a bookcase.

Or make just one feature wall in a larger room. (Handy hint: when you enter the room, see which wall immediately grabs your attention. This is generally a great way to see where a statement wall would have the most impact).

You could also try a bold print in a more neutral palate. (see image below, of Thibaut wall covering in La Farge, Aqua)
