Hotels and spas are experts at conjuring tranquil, serene spaces, so let’s learn from the best. Here are 8 ways to work that luxury hotel interiors feel into your home without breaking the bank.
TIP 1: LARGE WHITE FLUFFY TOWELS
Quite simply, there’s nothing like wrapping up in a sumptuously warm towel after a hot bath or steaming shower, especially in these cold months. The White Company bathroom towels are delectable, but if you’re looking for something cheaper Dunelm towels and bathmats are fantastic value. Here are my top picks:
Classic double border towels, white: from £2.10
These White Company bathroom towels are fantastic quality – thick, warm, fluffy. They’re also incredible value at the moment with the white company offering 30% off.

TIP 2: THICK DUVETS, SUPER SOFT PILLOWS
Hotels always seem to have the best pillows, and lots of them. Moreover, hotel duvets always seem to be so thick and warm. They’re an expense we don’t always like making, but really good quality duvets and pillows are completely worth it. Here’s a few goodun’s:
Dorma supreme fill duvet: £69.99 to £94.99
The dorma supreme fill duvet is 13.5 tog, machine washable, and available in different sizes. It’s also great value and has top 5* reviews.

This is no ordinary pillow! Designed to mould into your head, it helps you to sleep in the perfect posture, relieving pressure and ensuring a great night’s sleep. It’s also received absolutely shining reviews.
Dorma bolster pillow: £15.99
For some reason, I’ve never considered (until now) investing in a bolster pillow. Yet they’re so comfortable and ideal if you sleep on your side. This one is going for 20% off in the Dunelm sale.
TIP 3: SILKY SOFT WHITE BED LINEN
I’m a massive fan of white bed linen – it’s simple, clean and crisp and also very versatile. You can add a colour pop with cushions and throws and never get bored! Here’s how to make your bed like a hotel:
Dorma brocatello bedding: £59.99 to £79.99
This elegant and luxurious dorma brocatello bedding oozes regal splendour with its delicate silver and gold embroidery. It’s also 100% cotton, 300 thread count, making it beautifully soft to slide into.
The White Company Genoa bed linen: £45 to £66
The White Company has so much choice I had a hard time choosing, but I adore the silky silver edges of this bed linen – it gives it a really luxurious, indulgent feel. It’s currently at a 30% discount in The White Company sale.
TIP 4: CANDLES & DIFFUSER STICKS
One of the things I loved most about our room at The Dolder Grand was the fact there were candles in the bathroom – it literally made my stay! Candles and diffuser sticks are a low-cost, quick and easy way to make spaces warm, inviting and relaxing. Here are some of my faves:
Branche d’olive candles: £24
Branche d’olive candles and diffuser sticks smell completely divine and are largely sourced from local Provencale producers. We interviewed them here.
Lily flame candles john lewis: from £6.50
These are such a novelty and the fact that they come in a tin means they’re perfect for popping by the bath tub!
TIP 5: TOWEL RADIATOR
I truly hate getting out of a bath or shower and wrapping myself in a freezing cold towel. Keep those towels warm, toasty and dry with a towel radiator. Pebble Grey have newly launched their towel radiator collection and are celebrating by offering 10% off:
Clarence electric towel rail with thermostat: £98.99 (RRP: £198)
This electric towel radiator comes in three sizes and with a thermostat that enables you to adjust the temperature.
Electric grey towel radiator: £80.99
This grey towel radiator is a unique design and comes with the option of a thermostat.
TIP 6: GOLD ACCENTS
Adding gold decorative accessories and accents just creates a feeling of luxury as well as warmth. Here are some of my ideas:
Artisanti white and gold dimpled bowl: £27
This gold decorative bowl, with its eye-catching dimples, will make a luxurious and opulent looking centrepiece on coffee tables or mantelpieces. It’s also currently half price in the sale.

Lombok table lamp: £70
I’m a huge fan of Lombok lighting – many of their lamps artfully fuse ethnic glamour with contemporary luxury and this one is now exception. It’s also down from £95 in the sale.
TIP 7: BEAUTIFUL BEDSPREADS
Quite honestly, a beautiful bedspread just polishes off the bed, making it look inviting and indulgent. Dunelm bedspreads are lovely and great value and The White Company has some classically elegant numbers. Here’ are my picks:
Dorma brocatello bedspread, grey: £95.99 to £119.99

TIP 8: LONG SLENDER WINE GLASSES
What you sip from definitely affects how you sip it. Wine glasses with long, slim stems and perfectly rounded tops somehow makes the wine taste better and shifts the attitude of the drinker — you slowly sip and savour every mouthful! John Lewis dartington wine glasses are great, and you’ll be backing British at the same time :):
John Lewis dartington wine glasses: £46
Dartington make fantastic quality wine glasses and these ones are no exception. I love the tall, skinny base and the rounded shape of the top.
LSA Polka metallic wine glasses: £30 for 4
These LSA polka metallic wine glasses have the long, slender stems I love but also a cute pop of colour to jazz things up!
