There are no better gifts than those which show thought, care and love. Here are four of my ideas for some homemade Mothers Day gifts:

AFTERNOON TEA
Surprise your Mum by laying out the table with a beautiful new cake stand brimming with homemade cakes and sandwiches (or cheat and buy her favourite!). This is a great way of personalising a present and at the same time giving you the opportunity to enjoy an indulgent afternoon together.

HOMEMADE CHOCOLATES
Fill a beautiful mug such as this one from Anthropologie with homemade chocolates or truffles. Click here for a video on how to quickly whip up chocolate drops!

CHEESE & CHUTNEY
If your Mum is a cheese lover why not surprise her by piling a stack of yummy cheeses on this absolutely amazing Anthropologie cheese board. Then if you have time, whip up some homemade chutney. This BBC Good Food spiced apple chutney is so easy and really delicious.

WINE TIME
For all Mums who love their wine (mine included), a bottle of really special red or white, poured out into a gorgeous new carafe, makes a wonderful homemade Mothers Day gift. Carafes just seem to be those items you rarely buy for yourself, but I’m totally obsessed with mine and never fail to use it when I tuck into a bottle (my Mum also bought it for me!).
